Silja J. A. Talvi

Biographical Information

Silja J. A. Talvi was born in Finland, daughter of Judith Aller and Ilkka Talvi, and lived there
until the 1960s when the family moved to Sweden. Eventually, she moved with her family to
Hollywood, California, and she lived in the Los Angeles area where she earned a BA from
Mills College in Oakland and an MA in Women's Studies from San Francisco State
University. She currently lives in Seattle, Washington.

Talvi is a full-time investigative journalist and essayist, and she has published broadly in
newsprint, journal, and book formats. Below, I list only her book, but Talvi's publishing
record includes credits in more than seventy works. You can find a complete listing at her
