Finnish North American Literature Association
Barbara Simila was born and raised in the Copper Country, located in the Upper
Peninsula of Michigan. She teaches high school English in Calumet. She has been
awarded the Finnish American Poetry Award in 1994, honorable mention by the
Lake Superior Writers Series in 1995, and the poetry award at FinnFest 1996.
