Albert Karvonen

Biographical Information

Albert Karvonen was born on April 24, 1931, in northeastern Alberta where he grew up on
the family farm. For twenty-three years he worked in education as a teacher and a principal
before turning to film.

In the following thirty years, he worked in film, television and multimedia, directing more
than eighty works. As an independent filmmaker, he has found commercial success with his
highly acclaimed wildlife films in which he is engaged from inception, to directing and
filming, to marketing.

He holds numerous awards for his work, including a David Billington Award and a Salute to
Excellence Award.
