Gerald Carlson was born and lived in Cloquet, Minnesota until he was sixteen, at
which time he moved to the west coast with his family.

This nonfiction book chronicles the life of the Carlson family from the time of the
paternal grandparents in the 1850s to the present, including hardships of living in
the north country through prohibition and the Great Depression. It also recounts
humorous incidents that made life easier in those trying times.
